The most successful people don’t keep their success by doing the same thing over and over forever. Sometimes you have to switch it up a bit, try doing it a different way, or head in a different direction. This is the essence of repositioning yourself for success. Think about a business trying to survive in today’s economic climate. Do you think they’re going to operate the same way they did 5 years ago? Are they going to spend the same amount of money on payroll, marketing, or operating expenses? Absolutely not. As an entrepreneur you’ll be faced with these types of situations at any given season in your life. It’s how you reposition yourself that will determine if you’re successful or not.

In this first post I want to explore repositioning yourself for success with your career. We have to remember that not every entrepreneur is ready to step out and work their business full-time. Of course, if you are then check out the series, “Quit Your Job and Make Millions.” Watch the video below to get a better understanding. Let me know what you think in the comments below.

Love what you said here Rod! You are a smart and wise young man. Something we don't see in many of young men today. I am always in AWE when I come to your blog.

As for me, I am continually in a repositioning mode because as an entrepreneur I believe that we must always be looking for something new and evolving so that your business stays fresh. As you evolve, God gives you new insight into what you need to do for your business.

I am not sure why but many people think that God and business do not mix. How wrong they are?

He destined us for great things and it encompasses everything that we are and all that we do. If we are to do everything as unto the Lord, then does that not include business too. Whatever the path may be, we need to make sure it is God guided!

I cannot wait to read more about your journey on this path you are on.

Do your thang my brother :)

Thank you Latara, I appreciate you! You're absolutely right, as an entrepreneur you have to continually evolve and take things to the next level. I've been a business owner since 2001 but it was never the same business. It always changed as I developed new skills, abilities, and enhanced my market awareness.

God is business! So, yea, what are people thinking? He gives us the ability to bless others and BE blessed as well. This is something that I'll definitely be exploring in future posts here. Thanks for your support. Stay blessed!

Rod, you are absolutely right! 100% man.

Just like you said, we often feel trapped. Sometimes in a job, a relationship, or just life circumstances. But more often than not, we are trapped by the box that we have build around ourselves, a box called expectations. And then when those expectations aren't met, we become frustrated.

I know it has been an ongoing challenge for me, I have to continually ask myself, “Why is this a limitation? Who says it has to be this way?” Being able to recognize those limitations as our own now gives us the freedom to change them… or even eliminate them!

Here's a biggie. Who says you have to make $100k a year to be happy? Who says you have to live in a 5,000 sqft mansion to find joy. As my wife would point out about the house, “Who's gonna clean that thing?” Why do you think having a bigger car payment is going to make you happier? I'm pretty happy driving my 13 year old (paid off) Jeep Cherokee. For that matter, why do I have to live in the town I live in? Happiness and opportunity come in many forms in many places.

Awesome job Rod pointing us all in the right direction to break out of our box we've built around ourselves and enjoy the freedom that comes from thinking outside the box! Keep up the good work and keep us up to date on the travels of Rod!

Here's a man, that actually gets what's going on here, kudos to you J! You're right, no one has to have certain things to feel like they've attained a certain level of success. It comes down to you being happy and the seed you've planted in someone else – to help them achieve their own success. I appreciate you sir. Will definitely have to come down and visit you when I can.

  5. Rodney, this is a great post. I appreciate you modeling some new paradigms when it comes to achieving success in the 21st century. What I liked the most was the idea that, whatever we do, we do it with excellence. We need to remember that we are serving our employer as to the Lord in whatever job we find ourselves in, just as we will have our customers as our employers when we are running our business/es.

Steve, I couldn't have said it better myself. Have a sense of excellence will take us farther than a sense of perfection. Thinking of our customers as our employers is key to maintaining any level of success.

What a refreshing, “down to earth” approach to helping people not only to reposition their lives, but to reposition their MINDSETS!
I will be following Rod in his new career and hoping to pick up pointers along the way!
    Thank you!
