I find my week is so much easier if I take Saturday or Sunday to plan ahead for the next week. I'm a blogger, so I take time to write posts up over the weekend when I'm able. This leaves me free to follow comments during the week.

Keeping a running to-do list through out the week also helps. I'm forever adding tasks but I also step back from that list at least once a day for a couple of hours. Sometimes I step back for several hours. It depends on the kind of break my mind and my body need on that day. :)

Deb

Interesting comment Debra. I'm quickly finding out that I work on the weekends when I can, but I also use Sunday as a strategy day. Just depends on what I've got going on. I'm like you, if I go too long without doing something productive I get lazy. We're all human, eh?

The weekend is an extension of the weekday for me. I live with chronic illness so I have to work when my body will let me. Sometimes that means late at night, early in the morning or even on weekends. Plus, if I go too long without doing something productive, it's hard for me to keep working toward my goals. I loose focus. So even if I'm just planning out the upcoming week while lying on the floor, I try to always do something that will move me closer to what I want. :)

Deb

I usually do the more creative aspects of our catering business on Saturdays. That could include photographing the delictables or designing flyers etc. On Sundays after worship and Sunday dinner (spiritually and physically fed) I work out my claendar for the upcoming week. I would love to do all of this in my underwear but two children have objected so my Pink Panther Pajamas are the "week end uniform". : )

My weekend strategy is to do the more creative tasks of my catering business. That could include photographing the delictables for our menu, designing flyers, etc. On Sundays after worship and Sunday dinner I plan for the week by adding all events, school assignments, meetings etc to my planner. I would love to do all o0f this in my underwear but two children have objected LOL.

Lol, J, no web cam stalking for me. This is a very important question because, as you mentioned, the notion is you have to eat and sleep your business. But, breaks are in order. You have to have work and life balance or you'll burn out. How you maximize your time over the weekend typically determines what's left or how your week day starts. I'm looking forward to the results as well.

Great question! I am actually struggling with this problem right now. I feel like I have so much to do and feel guilty when I'm not working on it. But I know there needs to be some boundary between working and living... or burn-out, maybe even a big dramatic flame-out won't be far behind.

My "trick" for trying to find that balance has been to "spend time with the family when they're around." That certainly helps with those relationships... of course it doesn't help me get much sleep since I make up that time after they go to bed.

This is a really important topic for all involved business owners. The old saying is you have to eat and sleep your business to be successful but, at least in my case, I need a break every once in a while.

I'm very interested to see other responses to this and where the poll comes out. Thanks for the topic.

@jtrigsby

PS - Have I been leaving my webcam on? For a minute I thought you were describing what was happening around here last weekend!
