This is the quantitative and qualitative development of the church. It is different from 'swelling' which is common and dangerous in the contemporary church.

Mike,

Two points really jumped out at me in this post.

First, the apprenticeship aspect of creating leaders. This process seems to be a lost art form both in business and the church. Taking one under your wings to teach them the ropes before setting them on their own is a great formula for success. Sadly, not enough people are willing to become apprentices or serve as mentors because it involves a huge time investment.

Second, Peter was just a fisherman. He wasn't a great speaker. He wasn't a brilliant theologian. Yet, he was smart enough to let the Holy Spirit work through him without getting in the way (something he struggled with while Christ was alive). I can see an add touting, "Learn how this Galilee fisherman went from catching fish to catching men. You too can experience these same fantastic results. Operators are standing by. Send your prayer up to heaven now. This offer is sure not to last." I don't know - just what popped into my mind while I read this. ;)

Hey, Craig, I enjoyed this one as well. Mike did an awesome job of illustrating how we really need to start a business. The greatest selling book of all time? Love it!

Great article Rod. Truly explains how successful a business can become by using techniques from the Almighty, heck it spawned the greatest selling book (and e-book) of all time! lol

Acts is a great example of how to weather the storms of business as well. Thanks for a different perspective on start-ups.
