Hey J, I love your continued advocacy for hyperlocal advertising. I really didn't connect the dots with the “co-oping” of ads, but I see your point. The main goal here is for bloggers to think outside the box. We don't have to be limited to adsense and affiliate programs, we can make money like traditional media companies.

The Co-op'ing (is that a word?) of ads is a stellar idea. Think about several sites on various topics in close geographic proximity all sharing the same pool of ads. Expanded a bit, how about hyperlocal sites sharing a common pool and offering advertisers a chance to run their ads in the other cities.
