Christian Entrepreneurship

To be a Christian entrepreneur means that you are committed to more than just sales and increasing your bottom-line for personal gain. It’s a commitment to live life to your fullest potential and impacting the lives of others along the way. It’s about maintaining a relationship with God through every business interaction and transaction.

Matthew 28:18-20 (NIV) says,

18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

This passage clearly states our God-given mandate to be fishers of men and to teach people about the love of Christ. As entrepreneurs we have a unique opportunity to impact the live of customers beyond the business transaction. It’s important that we stay in tune with the Holy spirit and others who are successful Christians in order to accomplish this mission.

A Matter of the Spirit

As Christian entrepreneurs we deal with heavier issues beyond that of business gains & losses . . . we deal with the spirit. If our spirit is not tuned to God’s frequency then depression can set in and affect everything around us. How can we be fishers of men when we’ve been rocked by a thunderous storm?

This is why it’s important to keep a constant relationship with God and the people He places in our lives to keep us afloat. It’s easy for us to get down on life’s hardships, bad news of the economy, and the general feeling that we’re not where we want to be with our businesses.

However, as a Christian entrepreneur, you must understand that whatever God placed in your heart, He already made a way for you to do it! He’s given YOU all the tools, resources, and equipment you need to be successful!

“How?” you ask.

Our blueprint for business success is in His word!

Joshua 1:8 (NIV) reads;

Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.

Remember, God always prepares his people for success. If he did it for Abraham, Jacob, and even Jesus – what makes you think He won’t do it for you?! It’s tough being an entrepreneur and can be even tougher to be a Christian in the secular marketplace, but “greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world!”
